Teineko’s art endeavor began from carving rubber.

Stamp carving is a common Japanese craft that may be taught to schoolchildren in art class. Traditionally, people have carved stamps to use them for New Year’s greeting postcards. Growing up abroad, teineko never had the chance to experience this craft as a child.

In my 4th year as a clinician, teineko started carving rubber stamps, beginning from pop culture characters and gradually moving to anatomical motifs. I take greatest care in making my printed images anatomically accurate.

Today, teineko is experimenting with different levels of abstract interpretations and different carving mediums such as wood and linoleum.
